OUR TWO's MOVED - NEW ADDRESS 2.5 - Ms Jaqueline and Ms Jessica are amazing! January 2012

We are pleased to announce that our Twos have moved into their new classroom. The classroom is now fully operational. The colors, layout and furniture support the Reggio Emilia Approach. Thanks to Ms. Jacqueline and Ms. Jessica for making this classroom so much fun and creating a great learning environment.

FALL PROGRAM: Language Immersion/Spanish September 2011

We are excited about our Spanish Enrichment Program called " De Colores" (Of Colors). Maranatha Child Development Center embraces and recognizes the benefits of a linguistically integrated approach to learning in the early years. Children are generally considered capable of acquiring a new language rapidly and with little effort.

"De Colores" (Of Colors) is a traditional folk song that is well known throughout the Spanish-speaking world. The song was brought to the Americas from Spain during the 16th century. In modern times, the song frequently appears in collections of children's songs.

OUR SUMMER FUN PROGRAM: By Felicity Pieterse, Owner of Maranatha Child Development Center – August 2011

The summer months were buzzing with exciting activities at Maranatha. Firstly, we kicked-off our summer with our Pre-K Graduation. Our splash days cooled the kids down on the hot summer days, along with pony rides and amazing field trips. Our kids explored their artistic side with our theatre classes and grew awareness with our field trip to the Yorba Linda fire department. If that wasn’t awesome enough, we had many themed days including: Mad Scientist Play, Father’s Day BBQ, Great Park Balloon visit, Lizard Wizard Show, Celebrity Reader Day, day at Tanaka Farms, Kidseum visit, Irvine Park and Yorba Regional Park visits, Field trip to Scooter’s Jungle and Pretend City visit.

What a wonderful end-of-summer production, “The Amazing Garden Adventure”. Thank you to all the parents who contributed and attended. We are so proud of our children. They wrote the story themselves as well as designed and created costumes, props and scenery. Thank you to Ms. Sonya, Ms. Mary-Ann, Ms. Kathy and all the Maranatha teachers for all the extra time and talent put into making this show the best ever. Congratulations on a job well done.

OUR CURRICULUM: A RESULT OF THOUGHFUL PLANNING: By Sonia Semana, Program Coordinator at Maranatha Child Development Center – March 2011

A Result of Thoughtful Planning

At Maranatha Child Development Center, our curriculum is developed from the close attention given to the interest and developmental needs of each child (Emergent Child Care and Preschool Curriculum). Our program and environment are the result of thoughtful planning and reflection by each teacher and their understanding of each child's development. The materials in our classroom (both indoor and outdoors) are carefully chosen to enhance the learning experience of the children in our program by supporting their cognitive development and valuing their exploration of the world.

Our environment is developed to support your child’s natural curiosity, with different opportunities during the day for your child:

- explore through block play;
- involve their body in art experiences;
- expand their imagination through dramatic play;
- explore nature and life science when working in the outdoor classroom;
- exercising their large muscles through large motor activity (bikes, running, and using climbing structure);

We believe that it’s by listening to your child’s natural rhythm, supporting their ideas and nurturing their curiosity; we develop the love for life long learning.

PROVIDING A GREAT CHILDHOOD by Felicity Pieterse, Owner of Maranatha Child Development Center – February 2011

Why Education Matters

I truly believe that child care is my calling and I love interacting and working with children and parents. I have 3 wonderful daughters, 2 of them are in college and my youngest daughter is in high school. I really enjoyed and still miss the days when they were little.

OUR STAFF EXCEED EXPECTATIONS by Michele and Tommy Ehrenberg, Parents at Maranatha Child Development Center – January 2011

What Our Parent say about Maranatha

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank Felicity and the staff at Maranatha Child Development Center of Yorba Linda for their great work with our children. We have seen other facilities and found Maranatha Child Development Center to be clean, safe and - most of all - very nurturing. While the academic aspect of any pre-school is central to a child’s development, I believe that our children have learned a lot about team work, the arts, self confidence and the delight of discovery.

Your teachers model respect, cooperation and sensitivity for the children while teaching them about the world around them and giving them the foundations that they need to be prepared for Kindergarten and beyond.
